The other day my girlfriend invited me over to hang out at the pool- something I haven’t done allll summer. It was so nice to spend some time outside and just relax! After spending the day at the pool I was inspired to share my top essentials because there’s nothing worse than getting there and forgetting that ONE thing you desperately needed.
You might be wondering why I’m sharing poolside essentials instead of beach essentials!? Well my friends, if you live in Alberta you know that the beaches are few and far between- sigh. But you could easily bring all of the below to the beach, pool, lake, swamp, spray park…and be good to go!
Towel
This is a given for the most obvious reasons but I had to add this one to the list because I found THE cutest donut towel the other day and I couldn’t resist sharing! If you’re hitting the pool why bring that faded old towel that you’ve had since you were in swimming lessons when you can bring something bright and fun like a donut?!
Dry Shampoo
You might be wondering why this one is on the list but girl, let me tell you you’ll thank me later. Just think about it…you’ve spent the day at the pool and your hair is wind blown and looking like a hot mess. All you have to do is spray some dry shampoo to your roots to help tame your mane and bring some shine back. It’s perfect! My favourite is Amika’s dry shampoo because it doesn’t leave any white residue and smells amazing!
Water Bottle
With the sun out in full force it’s important to hydrate! I love bringing a fun drinking cup like this pineapple sipper because…ok, i’m trying to think of a good reason here…because it’s just cute! Good enough 😉
Sunscreen
Not going to lie there was a time in my life when I thought sunscreen was gross and because I don’t burn easily…pointless. Looking back I realize how silly that is because we all know how important it is to protect yo skin! My favourite type of sunscreen is the spray version and I have been loving Avène’s high protection spray for sensitive skin because it’s light and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. I also use Vichy’s Idéal Soleil Ultra Light Lotion for my face- both in SPF 50!
Fashion Accessories
When it comes to fashion there are three things I always make sure to bring to the pool with me- beach bag, sunnies, sandals, and a hat! These pom pom sandals are seriously the cutest and if you haven’t noticed my tassel obsession continues! These items are all reasonably priced and will definitely get you through few summers.
Fun Floatie
If you haven’t seen all of the fun floaties that are out and about these days you have been living under a rock! I am obsessed with any and all donut floaties as well as the swans, pineapples, popsicles…..ok, I’m just obsessed with ALL floaties.
