If you’ve ever been a bride or in a wedding party then you know that the morning of the big day can be a little stressful and filled with a whirlwind of emotions. Elizabeth explained that her and her team of makeup artists are there to help make that morning of getting ready as smooth as possible. Blushed Beaute has a no cancellation policy, and with over 250 weddings under their belts they have yet to cancel. Now that’s impressive!
After chatting with Elizabeth I was floored at how knowledgable she was about what could potentially happen on the day of the wedding, what colours work with certain seasons, and even hair colour tips based on the style you’re going for. Blushed Beaute requires a trial session with each bride to help you design your look on the big day and will go over everything with you step by step. From general things like your hair style down to the skin care routine you should have prior to the big day!
This might seem like beauty info overload if you’re a fellow “rookie”, but trust me Blushed Beaute is there every step of the way! But to put it in layman’s terms here are a few tips that I took away from my appointment that I thought were super helpful…
- Before focusing on your makeup and hair, make sure you know your dress and if there is a certain wedding theme so everything looks cohesive on the day of
- Want a natural glow? A spray tan is alway a great alternative but NEVER a couple of days before the wedding. Make sure you have a trial spray tan at least a month before your big day so you can see how your skin will react
- If you’re going for an up-do hairstyle always have a trial before hand to see if the colour suits the look. If you’re like me and have ombré hair you’ll probably want to reconsider your hair colour to avoid a halo effect around your face caused from the darker root
- Stay hydrated! Water does wonders for the skin and will help you have that glow on your big day
- Avoid any waxing or hair removal procedures days before the wedding just in case you have a nasty reaction
- Fall brides need to have a little flexibility with their makeup look because as many of us know October could still be summer or full on winter, you just never know! Adjustments may need to be made the day of your wedding based on the weather
- Always book a make-up and hair trial with your artist prior to! This is critical in creating that seamless morning the day of your wedding
For my look, Elizabeth started with my foundation using something I’ve never tried before, an airbrush tool! This type of application isn’t suitable for every day because of the silicon base in the foundation. But for a wedding!? It’s perfect because it applies smoothing and more importantly it lasts all day.
For my eyes they were glammed up with soft pinks and blush tones using a combination of MAC shadows and the Naked 3 palette, a personal favourite of mine! We also added a natural lash along with a tiny wing for a bit of drama.
With my makeup looking on point next we moved onto the hair! I’ve always wanted to try an undo with a bit of texture so Elizabeth backcombed my front and pulled it back into a french roll. With my hair back I loved how my makeup became the focus of the look and how there was even a spot left in the back for a veil!
