There’s an unwritten rule in our house that Josh cooks and I clean because we all know that cooking is not my strong suit! I think even our dog Henry would think twice before digging into one of my dishes. BUT something I am good at and actually enjoy doing is cleaning! I find it so therapeutic when I get the chance to clean and that instant gratification you get afterwards is priceless. So when LG reached out to share their QuadWash® Steam dishwasher, the cleaning Queen in me was ecstatic to test it out!
In my opinion, the best way to test out any dishwasher is to get a little messy in the kitchen and cook one of your favourite dishes. For us, that’s Chrissy Teigen’s Lemony Arugula Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe. We make this dish at least once a month and it’s basically heaven on a plate in case you were wondering!
If pasta and delicious carbs is your thing here’s the recipe in case you want to try it out! Trust me, you will not be disappointed…
Ingredients:
- Kosher salt
- 12 ounces dried spaghetti
- 1/4 pound (about 3/4 cup) pancetta or bacon, finely diced
- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 3 tablespoons (about 4 big cloves) minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, plus more to taste (we cut this in half because it is spicy!!)
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper, plus more to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, plus more for serving
- 3 cups baby arugula
- In a large pot of heavily salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti to al dente according to the package directions. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta water (it comes in handy), then drain the pasta.
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the pancetta over medium-high heat until crisped, 7 to 9 minutes. Add the olive oil, then add the garlic, red pepper flakes, and black pepper and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the lemon juice to the skillet, then toss in the drained pasta and toss to coat. Add the Parm and toss, adding the pasta water, a couple of tablespoons at a time, just to help the cheese coat the pasta. Add the arugula and toss until it wilts, about 1 minute. Season to taste with additional salt, lots of black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Serve with more Parm.
After devouring our delicious meal it’s time for the inevitable…the dishes! And no matter how much we try and keep things clean while cooking, there always seems to be a boat load of dishes to do afterwards. How does that happen!? Luckily, our new LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher comes fully equipped with not one, not two, but three racks for dishes! I’ve honestly never been able to load this many dishes in one go which makes the cleanup process way less intimidating and a total breeze.
A couple other features about the LG QuadWash Steam dishwasher I can’t help but mention is its TrueSteam® technology which helps keep our glasses spotless. I’m not joking when I say it does a better job of keeping streaks away than I ever could! Another feature we absolutely love, especially with a newborn baby, is how quiet it is! After turning it on for the first time, I had to double check I did it right because we could barely hear a thing!
